The world of resistance takes place in the future in a region of space with dozens of colonised planets. In memory of their heritage from Earth, each planet has a name from Greek mythology. In fact, many names in society are based on it, including warship names.

The alliance is ruled by a democratic government based on Athena, the capital planet, although each planet has it's own form of local government. The alliance however, consolidates it's military into one entity.

The ongoing story follows Marcus Kane, commander of the battleship Pegasus, who disobeys a direct order to open fire on fleeing civilians - who are allegedly rebels. Kane is immediately relieved of command and sentenced to death soon after. Lunkily for him, he gets rescued...by the rebels. He then has to decide where his loyalty lies - To the corrupt government, murdering civillians, or to the rebels, his former enemies who are trying to liberate it. His decision will have unforseen consequences for everyone...
