the wii is awesome. Just got wii play (mini games) with a 2nd controller, so there was much playage tonight. the wii haas some really cool games, in both proper ones (zelda: twilight princess) and the minigames (wii sports / wii play) which are excellent for multiplayer. The wii's motion sensing is frighteningly realistic. Take the bowling game for example. It copies the natural rightward curve of my bowls far to realistically.

say goodbye to your bank balance if you buy a ps3.
(actually, to be fair, it costs a bit to kit the wii out to 4 player. Actually i've seen support for 5 player so far)

lol.
For references, the wii place gamecube discs as-is. And supports GC controllers (2 i think)
Then theres the online catalogue of games as far back as the NES
(NES, SNES, Meaga Drive, TurboGraphics [PC], N64)

I thought the mega drive was sega? not nintendo?
but sega also went bankrupt and sold the rights of sonic to Sony, Microsoft, and nintendo
oh well, just cant compete lol

mega drive was sega. But nintendo has come to some sort of deal allowing them to redistribute it (and others).
Mario Kart 64 just became available, will have to get that soon lol

A bit late, but I own (or have owned):
PS2
Computer (naturally)
Nintendo 64
SNES
Regular ol' Nintendo
Currently I just have the PS2 and the SNES. I don't quite feel like forking over all my dough for one of the next gen consoles... yet. Maybe if something comes out on the Wii (other than Twilight Princess) to interest me, I'll consider it. I really like the idea of the motion-sensing remote.

if you look at the past you will notice Nintendo has always brought the gaming consoles a step forward.
They were the first to bring out portable gaming. the Gameboy.
they are also the first to bring out touch screen gaming. although it wasnt as popular its still good :P
they also brought out the ability to join consoles together.
The Advance linked to the GameCube and once again NintendoDS to Wii.
and finally the Motion sensor controller.
the only thing that was brought out by another company that i know of was Sega Dreamcast. the first console that alowed you to play gaming online. as for the wireless controller that the 360 uses. I dont know who invented that first. As i recall you could buy wireless controllers for the PS2 and the orignal Xbox before the 360 game out.
anyhoo, Nintendo is always the first steps :P lol

yus. They invented the standard 4-button gaming layout (the diamond ABXY thing, although thats obviously now obsolete for the wii), then they made the N64, with an analogue stick.
