Yes! Come now people, the new forum doesn't bite.

At least, I don't think it does... *pokes it and runs* :scared:

Lord Zasz

Happy New Year all!

I still like the old forum better, looks wise, but the new one tisn't too bad.

Well, I'm stranded for a little bit, my car's front tire rod split in two while I was out today... not good. Luckily had my cell phone on me and was really close to somebody who could give me a ride, so that worked out fairly well. And very good that I wasn't on the free way or anything when this happened, as it was pretty much out of control. Yeah, lots of fun.

Onto movie review of the week, go see Night at the Museum! Really good comedy starring Ben Stiller. At night, everything in the Museum comes to life. Actually, pretty good movie.

fishyfins
05-01-2007, 10:31 AM
Night at the Museum is indeed a very very good movie. i saw it last week with the family, and we all laughed like hell. hillarious. the mini cowboy and roman dudes are the best.
sorry to hear about your car LZ, lets hope it gets fixed soon. i cant wait till i get my car, and this sort of thing can happen to me

*throws treacle glob at Tomecko*

Lord Zasz
05-01-2007, 09:13 PM
I don't know what a treacle glob is (and I'm pretty sure I don't want to) just glad it didn't get thrown at me!

I think the car is fixed now (after towing and bill for repair), but don't plan to go anywhere today just in case. ;)

Hey RD, did you get the forum banner I sent you?

LeoxStryker
06-01-2007, 02:24 PM
well the new site banner is up on the site. i went for the gold option. Ideally need a new logo though as well. 60x40. Anyone?

fishyfins
07-01-2007, 06:31 PM
are we actually going to try and encourage more people to join this forum? cos i know several people who are crying out for forums. especially if it has an area for Roleplaying. I think we should now try for that. Not thats its any of my buisness of course.

Tomecko
08-01-2007, 03:07 AM
True enough. What's the point of us being moderators if there's no underlings to lord it over? :satan:

*ahem* I mean yeah, more people would be good. I don't mind, personally, as long as the 'CC Crew' can still have it's own private threads here.

RD - Though you'll probably notice the email before you even read this post, I just sent off a possible icon and a 150 x 50 FF mini-banner for the main Dracomancer page.

LZ - How did you manage that animation of the dragon pic you put on dA? Did you have to get Adobe Image-Ready? I have a three-frame gif I was hoping to make, but alas, Photoshop defeats me.

Finally started watching BSG, I'm a few episodes into the first season. *taps Shareaza downloads* Good show! Interesting premise, definitely. Maybe now I'll know what you peeps are carrying on about... especially with this 'Adama-mustache' nonsense...

Fuzzball
08-01-2007, 07:40 AM
I agree with Mecko on the more people thing. Us five should have some privacy still, probably being the closest and everything, but it would be cool to have more people here.

I'm actually posting even though I have shit to talk about lol. I PHAIL.

Lord Zasz
08-01-2007, 07:49 AM
RD - Well, I'd be happy to make a few logo designs, I've got quite a few cool fonts downloaded that I may or may not ever use in my dragons comic. Lots of cool ones though, which could be perfect for "Dracomancer". I would have put something on their, but you said to leave it blank. I'll cook up a couple simple designs and send 'em over to you.

As for avatars and my own Dragons mini-banner, I haven't forgotten about them, however a comment on DA has spurred me to defend my favorite dinosaur visa vi a cool new pic. But, on the upside, no work this week so I should have something before I leave for Florida this Friday. (Yay for Disney!)

Fishy - I'd support new members and RP, etc. Gives me some noobs to boss around.... :plotting:

Tomecko - As with all my pics, a good deal of research. This one involved a little google searching for how to animate in photoshop. Here's the basics of what I did though, as it could save you some time. Get all the animation frames as layers in a photoshop document. File -- edit in image ready. Window -- animation. Whatever is visible becomes the first frame. On the bottom right of the animation window, next to the trash can icon, is the duplicate frame button. Click that. Now, hide or reveal the layers so the next stage of animation is visible. Repeat until you're done with frames. At the buttom of the image thumbnail is a x sec. drop down. You can edit how long the frame stays on from there. Hope that helps! :)

Now, back to killing spinosauri...

suggestions for other forums to add to what we already have...

News/Suggestions
Introductions (for newbie posts)
an area for creativity, so people can post art and writings
possibly an area to discuss music
a Roleplaying area. this can attract a lot of people
forum games (as opposed to actual game discussion)
an area for jokes and funny stuff possibly

also, for later, a shoutbox might be good...when we get a lot more members. also, i like the idea of forum familys, where all the members can become...a family...lol

just some ideas of mine

Cool, cool! Great ideas. Not so sure about a shoutbox, though, in my experience those can be subject to abuse and people end up using them like an irc channel anyways. However, they're probably safer than irc.

RD - I think you should definitely revive your 'funny captions' thread from the last forum, now that it's got a specific section to go in. Also, is it possible to expand the maximum size for custom avatars? They only allow 80x80, and sadly, my tomecko avatar that's built for black backgrounds is 90x57. If not, though, it's cool.

LZ - Thanks for the tips! w00t.

Vanya - *pounce* Phail! LOL. Like failing... but hardcore.

LeoxStryker
09-01-2007, 09:24 AM
i'm afraid not - tried to fix that last night when fishy pointed it out. However i can offer my ability to add it to the avatars list. I may even be able to restrict a gallery to staff only for our purposes.

Will ressurect the funny caption thread this evening

Lord Zasz
10-01-2007, 05:13 AM
Speaking of avatars, a little while back Vanya wanted me to draw some dragon avatars for everyone. I already talked to Fishy about it, but if you guys could give me some ideas for yours, I'd really appreciate it! (needed info would include type of dragon, outfit/cloths, pose, mood, weapon if applicable, color, really as much detail as possible)

Fishy brought up the idea of doing a group pic too, which I might.

Aside from that, if I ever get farther in my comic there may be a guest part in it for you guys. ;)

Fuzzball
10-01-2007, 06:58 AM
Well, I figured you could use the dragon pics of use you already had, but eh, this is fine by me!

For my dragon, I think I'd go for a Clockwork Orange pose. Like the one I have on my dA account, with the eye, but then in dragon-y fashion ^^

Lord Zasz
10-01-2007, 06:05 PM
Interesting, interesting. I can make up something good with that.

RD, Tomecko, you're next.

Tomecko

Fishy - Very Monty Python-esque!

LeoxStryker
11-01-2007, 11:39 PM
You have the Über-winds too fishy?
It always accompanies rain, just so you can't use an umbrella

Tomecko
12-01-2007, 02:45 AM
Man, we had a killer windstorm that hit the Oregon coast just before Christmas - it knocked out about a third of the county's power, and took down a bunch of trees. There was one tree that crashed over our parking lot entrance while I was working, they had to take a chainsaw to it to let cars out.

Fishy - Love the sketch! Short and sweet. Might also be funny if you added in an especially lame company slogan for the telephone operator to say, in my opinion.

Lord Zasz
12-01-2007, 06:42 AM
Tomecko - they shoulda let you have the chainsaw! Would look just like that one fanart pic you drew, lol.

24 Hours till my big vacation! Will be gone for a bit over a week, so take care everybody if I don't see you online tomorrow! I shall have lots and lots of fun.

Oh, btw, check out the Art section for some new pics, like (hopefully) our new mascot, Draco!

LeoxStryker
13-01-2007, 10:53 AM
there is now a VIP only avatar category, which only us five can access. If you guys want bigger avatars, e-mail them to me or over msn (these days you can use either leoxstryker@yahoo.com or leoxstryker@dracomancer.co.uk, both go to yahoo, but theres filtering set up for draco stuff. take your pick

Tomecko
14-01-2007, 12:14 AM
Thanks, RD! I'll send off my other avatar shortly then, along with the animated version of that FF banner.

LZ - Hope you're having fun on your vacation!

Fuzz - I actually picked you up a little something, but have no mailing address. If you don't want to tell, though, that's coo.' You can just have me draw you a pic.

Rargh, uber-overtime at work all this week. They're remodeling another of the stores in the chain, and remodeled stores get chalk art - and they're having me do all of them. I have until Friday to get the first batch of signs done. Stress! :P

Oh, and new Livejournal entry (http://tomecko.livejournal.com). I'm making a new DevID.

I could do with a new siggy as well actually, and possibly avatar....not sure

Tomecko
21-01-2007, 01:08 AM
My siggy was made from one of the many desktops I got off of DA (here (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/14048935/), you can find some pretty awesome pictures if you browse by 'most popular.' I just colorized it and added pixelated filter goodness in Photshop.

RD - What, no more BSG sigs?

Fishy - Actually, I like your icon (Orange! <3), though the signature is hard to read, as well as a little grainy. I do like that they're a matching set, though.

24-01-2007, 01:06 AM
Hey everybody! I'm finally back and semi-unpacked from my vacation. I bought waaaaay too much stuff down at Disney World, lol.

Will eventually post some sort of journal on DA detailing my trip (when I get the time) and all the oh so fun stuff I did. If anyone sees me online I'll be happy to share some of the photos I took and do some quality narration, too.

Fuzz - happy birthday! Sorry I didn't say so earlier, but no computer access in Florida. Will whip up the pic you wanted as a prezzie sometime in the not too distant future. (I might have to get some Disney pics out of my system first, lol)

Fishy - If you want help with a new siggy and avatar, I'd be happy to help you out, just send me an e-mail about it or poke me next time I'm online.

Tomecko - Remind me to show you the picture of the animatronic Stitch I got!

RD - Hello! Sent over a corrected background version of Draco, let me know if it works.

Soooooooooo, what else's been going on?

Tomecko
24-01-2007, 03:07 AM
Welcome back, LZ! Animatronic Stitch? No kidding! Is it remote-controlled or something? If so, you simply must torment your sister with it. It's the law!

RD - Yeah, noticed that too! Server go BOOM?

Fuzzball - Got it! I shall mail stuff off this weekend, hopefully.

Work + life = madness. More news at 11.

LeoxStryker
24-01-2007, 09:25 AM
new draco logo is flawless, thanks LZ

T - Short answer: yes.
Long answer: i think that it went boom on the 1 month anniversary. Coincidence? probably not. It's a conspiracy!
And i paid up front for the year, so it shouldnt be about that

Lord Zasz
25-01-2007, 01:53 AM
RD- Phew, glad it's all fixed now.

Tomecko - Sadly, I did not get an animatronic stitch, just snuck a picture of the one from his ride, lol. Though I would love one! And, I can't complain, because I bought *counts* at least 13 other things of Stitch. Yeaaaaah. This vacation doubles as Stitchapalooza. *grin* He's uber popular there! (as in on T-shirts and stuff with classic characters like Mickey Donald and Goofy! He's even got his own set of Stitch Ears! Was tempted to get them, but didn't.) Anyways, enough about Stitch, I've got to go watch Lilo and Stitch while inking a new Stitch line art I drew yesterday. (I kid you not.)

I DID do other stuff today, however, like purchasing a brand new printer scanner copier combo thingy at best buy. Hopefully my stuff will print off on this better than on other printers (and as my other ones were all free .... my guess is it will)

Tomecko
25-01-2007, 02:34 AM

More commissions from my old friend, the Coffee Lady. Wheeeee.

LeoxStryker
25-01-2007, 08:52 AM
lol. Well at least you don't have to inject yourself.

Well now, i seem to be reaching the point where i dont know what to download. The three main things (last main things) i'm getting atm are 24 (midway thorugh season 3, although i recently bought S1-5 on DVD for a awesome bargain - each season cost me a tiny bit more than the average brand new 2 disc film dvd), Charmed, oh which i have half a season left to pike, and south park, which will take bloody ages given that there are about 13 seasons and i'm on three.

So i does not know what to do.

Currently, the plan is to download an ep of two of Seaquest DSV (remember that? it's an oldie, used to watch it when i was like...8 or so) and determine whether to go ahead with the lot or leave it for later. On the film front, theres nothing of any value (With the exception of Casino royale, which i'll probably get legit, and maybe children of men, which i believe we have on dvd already. w00t for films we brits get before you americans for once!

And w00t for resumed BSG! you can't argue with a bunch of nukes, a mexican standof and a supernova

fishyfins
25-01-2007, 07:22 PM
Ooooo, im not very happy
im not sure if all of you know, but ive been having a lot of rubbish at work lately, with my boss (one of the most respected aquarists in the UK) being made redundant, leaving me as the only person there capable of taking care of the place. well, i just got a letter through saying i no longer have a job there either. yep, the fish is no longer employed :/
the good news is that my boss is opening hs own place soon, and i have been made a very good offer, and possible management job in the future, to go work for him, so this is only temporary for me.
i think the company is in trouble, last year a woman was killed at the other site by a forklift truck (showing the lax safety there), and killed. they were fined £150,000. i think they are having a lot of money troubles, and are about to fold.

Fuzzball
26-01-2007, 07:01 AM
Oh dear. Poor Fish. At least you have the outlook on another job... *hug*

Tomecko

Argh! That bites, fishy. But still, a possible magaement position sounds really good. Hope it works out!

Lord Zasz
27-01-2007, 04:15 AM
Yikes that is terrible, but at least there is the silver lining of a new job! Hope it all works out Fishy!

And yes, I believe I am addicted. Though, I blame the Disney trip for triggering this large of an episode! *LZ types as he watches Lilo and Stitch .... again. I swear, I can't remember the last time I've watched a movie (or set of movies) this many times in a row!*

In other news, rather than *do* anything with my time, I've spent the past few days redecorating (aka finding a home for all my new stuff) and junking all my old computer supplies (ancient digital camera, 2 printers, heaps or cords, some old memory cards, etc.), and general cleaning. Haven't gotten much art done, but at least things look clean!

Fuzzball
27-01-2007, 04:17 AM
Well, that's always something. I usually spend like half an hour cleaning before I start my art, however weird that may sound. That way I'm actually able to find things and write at my desk -_-;

Lord Zasz
30-01-2007, 12:36 AM
Bleh. I don't have much to say other than rant about sketches going wrong. Trying to get a good sitting pose of my Dragon LZ, but they're all coming out terrible! Either the scales are messed up or it looks retarded, or *ahem* innapropriate. Yeaaaah. I should just give up and try a different pose, but I refuse to. So, instead, posting this little rant. :rain:

Phew after many hours and about 8 failed attempts, I finally have a drawing I'm happy with! I'm sure everyone is as thrilled as I am. hehe.

Tomecko

As you know, Fuzz is now a DM and playing DnD. The bf is busy putting a site online about the game. There'll be cool features shortly, like downloadable adventures, information on different parties, and probably online campaigns.

The forums are currently online, the rest of the site still in progress. In case any of you wants to join, I'd be happy to see you there: www.dndconnection.nl

Lord Zasz
01-02-2007, 04:37 AM
Well, I'm indifferernt as to cleanliness of room and art. However, I almost exclusively do my art in my room (as opposed to sketching in class, work, etc) Need a relaxed atmosphere and complete concentration. And my 27" TV.

Well, first day of class finished. Consisted of only about 20 minutes, as it was an art class and no one has bought supplies yet. 3 more tomorrow.

Work went well (On Campus job), always good to hear glad to have you back and such. (Unlike my other job where I'm mostly unappreciated) :p Speaking of which, I got screwed over with scheduling (due to being in florida during the request period) and have to ditch out of one job so as not to be late to the other. *sigh* such a hassle.

Luckily, anime club starting up again soon! Plans for large screen viewing of FFVII Advent Children will be implemented shortly. Also, much YuYu Hakusho Dark Tournament is expected.

Oh, and check DA this weekend, think I'll be posting the first page of my Dragons comic (as for the second page ever seeing the light of day... we'll see if anyone likes the first) Couple of other arts stuff too.

'Tis actually warming up around here, temps are around 50 (F). -13? Yeesh.

Fishy - LOL, great videos. "Don't worry. He'll be back." And wow, that's a nice chunk of severance pay there! Have fun spending.

I finally got stuff mailed off, so expect packages soon/eventually! I'm such a slacker... *sweatdrop*

Anyways, I've been keeping busy with commissions, trying to learn how to drive (haven't killed anyone yet, woohoo!), and catching up with anime backlogs. Naruto is finally off it's months-long run of god-awful filler, so I had about 30 episodes to power through. :P

RD, looks to be 50 degrees, just like Tomecko. Damn you all. I'm getting frostbite on the morning commute. Snow storm yesterday. More fun. Went off the road and into the ditch due to icy roads while trying to make a turn. That was really fun. :rain:

Luckily, no. Did scrape against a sign in my attempt to get out of the ditch, but don't think there was any permanent damage from it that I could see.

Congrats fishy! You still in the fish business, or is this something new for now?

LZ - Everytime someone says 'Heck no' now, I'm going to think of that song. Drive safe now, y'hear?

Happy Valentine's Day to all, I suppoooose. I shall be trying to avoid pink things today. ;) Oh, and new sketch blog (http://tomecko.livejournal.com).

Lord Zasz
14-02-2007, 05:40 PM
Yep. Weather's been above 0 lately, and no snow since then, so everythings going fairly well. Might even get up to the 20s or 30s y this weekend!

Somehow, I managed to choose my red arctic fleece today, so I am wearing red (I swear, it didn't have anything to do with V-Day!) and my year of the drgon shirt (which I had to buy, despite not being born anywhere near the year of the dragon) However, my dragon LZ avatar may actually have been! (not sure if I made him in 2000 or 2001, but he could be in the range) On a V-day note, I hates it... though, I might send someone an anonymous valentine today. (no courage to sign a name, lol)

Heck no! hehe, glad to add to your random association vocabulary. Thought you might enjoy that one.

Congrats Fishy, glad to hear that!

In other news, art may slow down as I'm on a sculpture binge right now. After doing Tomecko's I needed to do some other new creations. Just finished Stitch (with glow in the dark teeth!) last night and I'll probably make something else by thursday. I did manage to finally get those avatars Vanya wanted of your guys' dragons sketched up, I'll probably send them to RD if I color them this weekend.

sketch blog (http://tomecko.livejournal.com).

No im still in with the fish, but only your general bread and butter stuff, nothing fancy like before. But the place does all other pets as well such as birds, mice, rats, chipmunks, chinchilas, rabbits, guinee pigs, quails, and all other manner of things that are likely to bite me

Death check! Have we dropped off the face of the planet yet? ;)

I've been busy myself, just had another car show this weekend (pretty pretty hot rods), and I've had lots of baby showers to go to/shop for. I swear, everyone and their cat is pregnant around here. And I'm not kidding, my best friend and her cat are both pregnant (in fact, the cat might go off any day now). I'm up to my eyeballs in babies.

What's up with all of you peoples?

Fishy - Shriek! Guinea pigs. I really can't stand that noise they make. If they bite you... bite back. :satan:

LZ - Glow in the dark teeth! Awesomeness.

Lord Zasz
20-02-2007, 03:59 PM
Yo! Glad somebody posted something. Yeah, it has been rather dead around here lately. Am sorry/happy to hear about all the babies (I'm sure there's some of both. Cute as they are, they're noisy and smelly, too)

What's up with me? Hmmm. Well, ditching 95% of readings for my classes, much fun. Novel project going along well, but tis a lot of work to even get a few pages done. (I'm a big editor on stuff, which can be not so good. Sometimes I'll change a sentance mid-way through and the first and second halves don't quite match up, or there's a "dead" word I forgot to take out. Bleh) Currently working on a glossary of all the people, places, and terms that have come up. Will most likely pester some of you to read some of it sooner or later.

Art goes well, if in a different direction. Taken a break on the digital stuff, and have instead went back to the traditional medium of clay. Making a set of Lilo and Stitch figures, because they look cool and I've got too many dragons on my desk as it is! Actually, this'd be the first fan art I've done in sculpture. About all the other 50-75 things sitting around are all original. Tis good to mix it up.

Oh, went and bought a bunch of new clay the other day, and all the individual packets vanished! I swear gremlins, aliens, or the big man upstairs must have taken them, because I have no clue where/how they disappeared!!! Had to go out and spend another $30 to replace the stuff that got lost.

And in general, things going well! I'm actually in a pretty great mood lately. How's everyone else?

ive been ok thanks. just started new job, and it seems quite good, although im not allowed near the animals yet :(
also working on uni (just had a nice lecture on human remains with some nice examples of bones and stuff passeda around. my lecturer also said if i get offered the chance to attend a human disection, then i should take it)
as always ive been practicing my juggling, and its progressing well. ive also been doing a few sleight of hand card manipulations, like making cards vanish into thin air, then brining them back in the blink of an eye. there is a video if anyone is interested.

T - BABIES!!!!! hehe, working for the new pet store, we gets lots of puppies and kittens brought into us, which are sooooo cute. *superglues your bedroom door closed whilst your asleep*

LZ - It wasnt me who took your clay *shifty eyes*. hope all art is going well for ya, hehe. and keep us posted on writing.

T - Cat might go off? *BOOM* Hope it's not nuclear. Buy yourself a cross to ward off evil ankle biters. RD Logic says it also helps you to not get preggers - it works for nuns anyway :P

I'm fine. been busy since the beginning of the month what with a trip to sheffield on the 3rd/4th and visiting siblings this past weekend. And i do bugger all after getting home from work. Just watch dvds (aka piked downloaded watchables) and maybe play a few games. I actually bothered to crack open the photoshop the other say and do some tomecko lineart colouring.

Lord Zasz
22-02-2007, 04:06 PM
RD- lol at the advice for T! Seen any good "legally purchased" DVDs/shws lately? I'm almost out of DVDs to watch and I don't feel like buying any new ones yet (aka finances still recovering from Disney trip. Big dent in the savings, hehe)

Fishy - Glad you gots a new job, too bad about the distance from the animals, I know how much you like getting bit by gerbils. And pirahnahas.

Anime club dificulties for me. President is getting swamped by otherstuff and I may have to throw a coup... I mean, temporaily take over. ;) Also got to make some new posters for recruiting members (attendance hasn't been the best since we all got back from break)

LeoxStryker
22-02-2007, 08:31 PM
LZ - Lol yeah. It's true though, you never see a nun without a cross or with their own kid. Well 24 & Battlestar Galactica are top notcg. And i'd also recommend stargate, since im impressed ive gotten so addicted to it. It has trumped 24 to be the thing i want to watch next a few times

Tomecko
22-02-2007, 10:49 PM
LOL. Don't worry, I don't need a cross to scare away boys - I have a katana. ;) I'll likely end up as uber-babysitter, anyways. I made the mistake of cracking a joke about quitting my job & opening a daycare - they all thought I was serious. :S

LZ - You can download Death Note and Busou Renkin like I been tellin' ya! They're both excellent shows. If you care to catch up with Naruto, as well, the current episodes have just skipped ahead 2.5 years and the show has a new name to go with it - 'Naruto Shipuuden' (means 'chronicles').

Fishy - Won't let you near the animals? That's no fun. Do they still let you near the fish, at least? Your extensive experience ought to count for something, after all.

Finally finished up the signs for the other store at work, and I'm taking a 4-day weekend to celebrate. Maybe I can finally get caught up on Battlestar Galactica, I've falling even farther behind. Plus artwork and sleeping in! Woo.

Lord Zasz
23-02-2007, 06:36 PM
Tomecko - 4 day celebration! Woo! *throws confetti at you* Yes, yes, shall try to download some stuffs you've been pestering me about *grin* (problem is I don't want to overload my laptop with stuff. I like to keep it with at least 10% free space so it doesn't explode or anything) Will have to download on my desktop and transfer via my nifty 1Gig flash drive. very handy

Note of Caution: Do not go down the path of the babysitter, or forever will it dominate your destiny. :duel:

Looking foreward to new art! As for me, finished my crimson Leroy, complete with full mouth of glow in the dark teeth, very cool with the lights off. Been meaning to try some Oekaki boards soon, as it may be a nice, quick way to get more pics drawn, hehe. BTW - noticed a collaboration board at Oekaki Central (http://www.oekakicentral.com/traininggrounds), might be fun to try sometime.

Now off to go beat those lazy anime club members until they sign up for the anime detour! Deadline approaching fast and we haven't done much of anything yet.

Yeah, you must watch the season threeses. And watch your jaw drop on episode 4. Dont forget to watch the webisodes before season 3! On a different note, the current eps are it's distinctly average part of the season. It maintained a kick-ass story up till the mid season cliffhanger, so its earned the right to some distinctly average eps. Should begin to pick up again soon for the finale though.

Well my current contract for working at my job was supposed to end this week, but they were happy to add 6 more months to it, and make it permanent if i want it. so yeah, w00ties.

In other news, got my sights on a new car (new being 2nd hand of course). No car in particular, but i want one. so financal fatality expected soon. Car Dealer WINS. Hopefullt not a flawless victory, need to pay for insurance too, though a bit of scouting around says that its actually going to be better than expected.

Job extension! Awesome. Congrats on that and the new dragonling.

Yus, I'm looking for a car too, and I'll probably need a bank loan to get one :P. I'm looking for a place of my own now, and I'll need a car to do grocery shopping and stuff (either that, or make a lot of awkward trips on the bike). Between apartment-hunting, car-hunting, and Vegas trip in April, I am going to be quite penniless. Here's hoping I win big! ;)

Mwrrr, the Mecko-dad (as Fuzz calls him) is in the hospital with a chronic stomach thing. Blah! :( Fortunately, this time the doctors are making him *stay* until it goes away.

RD - cool, job-extensions always good. Unless you don't like your job. ;)

Tomecko - Think positive! Even better, you should play the "win a new car" slot machines, then all your problems will be solved! And once again, hope your dad gets well soon!

As for me, evil time consuming forces from across the universe have banded together in an effort to destroy me! The horror!

For tomorrow I must finish writing another chapter (supposed to be done optimally by today...), a tour of the castle in my story, a redux of the council scene, and tour the MN capital building and some graveyard. Then, I'm supposed to, for my next class, have a test! Passage identification. Having read only about 25% of the stuff I'm supposed to have... that's not too good. Add some time for review. Then, must do multiple revisions of a poem (minimum of 3!). Add to that that my sketchbook is due on Friday, of which I need to do about 10 or 15 more, and that's really a problem. On the plus, it may be another blizzard tomorrow. *puppy dog eyes at the big man upstairs* Please let it snoooooow!

Feeling much better today. (and a big thanks to those who listened to me moping on MSN). :D My dad is out of the hospital and feeling much improved, and I just returned from viewing an especially nice furnished apartment. The landlady seems nice and is willing to consider allowing my cat. *whee* Hopefully I get the place.

The cat is having an emo-day, though. He just had a *cough* surgery yesterday. Poor little bugger.

LZ - New chapters? *consumes* Good luck with the loads of coursework.

RD - PHP! Gah, just the thought of the complexity makes me tremble in fear. But it will indeed be awesome. Are you going to take a course of some sort, or just do it on your own?

Woo! All went well, due to divine snow-storm intervention. Only had one class, and the test for it got cancelled. So, got to go home at 1ish. Friday was completely cancelled. Am actually fairly caught up with stuff now, and had time to organize/take pictures of a ton of my art. Expect a steady influx of pics over the next week (as opposed to uploading 20 in a single day, as is usual)

Utilized some of my Disney art books for sketches I'll be posting (Gave up on drawing from life for my 2D design class, as all those were boring and looked sucky. Instead, drew some Mickey and Stitch pics)

Poor, poor cat. No stray cat strutting for him anymore. Less kitten explosions, though.

Good to hear apartment seeking is going well, and that you're dad is out of the hospital.

w00t! for new vehicle. You shall have to post a pic of it when you get the chance. And awesome name! Tis always best to name your vehicle, lest it get stuck with something stupid.

Well, good news and potentially bad news. One of my sculptures got chosen to be in the Fulcrum (Art journal at Hamline). This is good. However, they want to re-shoot it. Normally, not a problem, but this sculpture was in clay and, uh, neglected. It dried out a year ago and got a lot of cracks. His face kinda meted off during an attempted earlier restoration... yeah. But, spent most of last night fixing it, about 90% restored I'd say. So they better accept it as is, or use the pic I submitted to them.

And if they even think about not using it now, after it's already been selected by a committee, I will fucking murder them. I kid you not.

*hides under shield*

Just reserved a copy on the new command and conquer. special edition too. w00t for GDI T-Shirt! Demo & Trailer can be found on the official site. The cast is awesome too:

Goodies:
Billy Dee Williams (aka Lando Calrissian)
Michael Ironside (aka the guy with the metal arm in starship troopers)
Grace Park (aka Boomer/Athena from BSG)

Baddies
Kane (the only and only)
Josh Holloway (Sawyer from lost)
Tricia Helfer (Number Six from BSG)

plus other dudes

T - You watched more bsg yet? - the last epsiode was insane. Death of a *main* character! Thats at least a kill count of 5 proper characters this season. Curse the producers. Theres no (likeable) way out of this hole.

LZ - Shall get a piccy. Should have car on/by the 24th. Two weeks on saturday

Lord Zasz
07-03-2007, 05:56 PM
RD - gah! Killing of main characters, must get caught up. No spoilers, please!

This Friday is going to be insane for me. aside from regular class, I've got an internship interview for the city of Hugo ($10 an hour, would be nice!) at 2:00, then drive back up to campus by 3:30 so they can take pictures of my sculpture for the Fulcrum, then 6-8 anime club meeting. Fun, but busy.

Huzzah! Turns out I got the nice studio apartment, I just signed all the papers last night and shall be moved in by the end of the month. *happy dances* It turns out the landlady works at the same air museum I used to, and therefore she had a whole building full of character references. :big smile:
I also expect the kittens to (lol) 'explode' any day now, and my boss is finally getting me the raise I've been harassing him about since Christmas.

Slight downside? I have to pack. Again. :P

RD - No, not caught up with BSG yet! Arrrrgh, deaths. But ooooo, new wheels. Definitely show us a pic when you get it.

The kittens have arrived, right when the vet guessed they would! We have a full, healthy litter of 6, which is a really big litter for a first-time mom, especially with no stillborns. There's even a couple of 'em who look just like their dad (if I never mentioned it, yes, my cat Scamp is the father), and most of them have extra toes like their mom. I'll get a picture up when they start looking more like adorable kittens and less like drowned mole-rats.

Giving them away, which the roommate has been informed is solely her responsibility. After all, I specifically separated the cats and she specifically let them out together... Spring break? is that some sort of holiday period in America? ive head of it off things like Simpsons, but its another of those american things i dont understand, lol *throws tall glass of water to intercept the gryphons*

well, im knackered. today ive cycled nearly 20km, walked around town, sat through a boring lecture about landscape change in America, and then worked the twilight shift at work for 5 hours, on my feet. and to top it all off, i have to be up at 6:30am tomorrow to get to uni. im going to france for a week, and our flight is tomorrow afternoon. *collapses*

Tomecko
16-03-2007, 04:59 AM
Yeah, Spring Break is a one or two week break all American students (both high school and university) have from classes. Traditionally involves a lot of partying.

Youch, what a day. :S And you're going to France? Nifty. At least you get to be off your feet while you're on the plane.

I might be going up Saturday even if I can't get off work, as they've got an "art jam" thing going on from 6 until 2am up there where "artists of all skill levels are welcome to show up, hang out, and sketch to their hearts content." Yeah, I really wish I'd remembered to take Saturday off ahead of time.

In Other news, mainly for the possible interest of those more arty-inclined - i'll soon be uploading my little decimal < > Hexadecimal tool. So converting those pesky colours will be nice and easy. RD - The Chess game sounds sorta cool. And yeah, I can imagine that would take a lot of programming.

It looks like we're all going to be busy this weekend! Exciting. I, for one, shall be moving into my new place. *happy dances* It's going to feel weird living on my own, but I'm pretty excited about it. Now I can plaster my anime posters everywhere and no one can complain.

I might be offline for a few days once I move, though, depending on how long it takes ro get the DSL squared away.

I also finally got some pictures of the kittens, so check the new thread for your daily dose of adorable.

RD - So what specifically do those programs do?

Oh, and post pics of your car.

T - w00t! Hope the move goes well!

Hmmm, maybe I'll get you one of those anime posters as a house warming gift. :plotting:

As for me, very happy! Found someone to take my Saturday shift for me, so I get to spend all three days at anime detour, and I won't miss the art jam on saturday! Wooo!

But yeah, I imagine after tonight, I won't be on for a couple days myself, hehe.

LZ - Which ones? There are 4 released proggies, 2 games - Tic ac Toe & Squares, and two proggies, the hex tool, and Library, a little app which keeps track of all published stuff on the site, and lets you download them directly, view suammeries etc. I may or may not have recently broke taht :P and it will get a facelift relatively soon anyway.

"In Other news, mainly for the possible interest of those more arty-inclined - i'll soon be uploading my little decimal < > Hexadecimal tool. So converting those pesky colours will be nice and easy"

So, what do you mean by converting colors and such, as I am arty-inclined, just like to know what it does specifically.

LeoxStryker

Converts RGB Values from decimal (base 10, normal numbers) to hex (base 16, numbers + A-F). so 255=FF etc.

Bonjour guys, the fish returns from france, having survived 2 flights, scorpion attacks, blizzards, 100kph winds, dodgy french people, and stuffed squid.

We were staying in an area on the medeteranian border between France and Spain. on the first day, we went up into the mountains, and down into spain, then along the coast back. a very nice, relaxed day. It was nice and sunny, and we went for a swim in the sea (which was uber cold). i was also harassed by some really odd french bloke trying to sell me some more-than-likely-stolen camera.

on the second day, we went to study the local wind turbines (hence the photo), and got held up in some very strong winds. on this day, i also turned over a rock and a scorpion was underneat....i was quite scared

third day we went to a very borning museum on the history of salt production in the area, with lots of specilist salts for sale in the giftshop, and even tasting bowls, where you could sample the "salt with herbs", "salt with chilli" and many others. they all tasted like salt to me, lol

on the 4th day, we went up into the mountains to measure the flow of some rivers, and got caught in a snowstorm, with 6" of snow. we also had foul looking stuffed squid for tea that night.

5th day we went and measured some trees, which was only slightly less boring than it sounds

6th day, we visited the cave in which they found the oldest human remains in europe, and then the local prehistory museum, which was awesome

and then 2 full days of work. im suffering from extreme sleep deprevation (made worse by daylight saving), and i think im off to bed now, lol. if you wanna see some more photos of my trip, poke me next time you see me online

hope your all well. ill catch up reading this thread tomorrow

France and sleep deprivation.
Sounds like a nightmare.

Anyway, I'm happily playing with my special Edition Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars( And wearing the cool GDI Logo T-Shirt that came with!)

In Other news, i may have a mild beta-age for my chess game soon. Movement for pawns, kings and knights seem to be done (although oawn promotion, "Check" ing, and preventing the king moving into dangerous squares are incomplete

Lord Zasz

Fishy - Well, despite the lack of sleep and scorpion attacks, sounds like a pretty fun trip!

RD - Cool. Is the chess game multiplayer or single?

Well, been a week since anime detour, and I've finally got a second to talk about it! Waited 2 hours to get in the first day, and actually ended up going by myself. (A couple of my friends were going to go on Saturday, but they sold out on Friday, so I was the only one who got a ticket!) Anyways, 4 anime screenings going on at once, a bunch of different programs/speakers, artists alley (bought prints and even a couple commissions), and the dealer's room.

Cosplay contest was cool, too. About 43 entries, I think. Started out with a sock puppet preshow (very funny skits), and an AMV half-time show. Posted a few good ones in the Poosy Joo pics section.

Ended up buying some Chrono Crusade, a new anime I watched there called KamiChu, the box set of FLCL, a Kunai, a Kingdom Hearts art book, and a couple costume bits for Halloween. (Thinking of doing a Sora costume)

chess will (initially) be 2 player, same pc. Eventually with AI support(*shudders at the thought of programming that*) and mega-eventually 2 player over the internet/local network.

Well i finally got my proper car insurance sorted. After a 20 minute (which for a sales call is bloody quick) session, which was like one continous daytime tv advert break.

Which only fishy would probably understand, so for you foreign types, that means continous adverts for car/home/health insurance and crap like that. very boring. along with most daytime tv really.

woo - breakthrough on the chess front. Got pawns, knights & kings on the board, and working reasonably bug free. If anyone generous wants to make the graphics for the pieces, i need 50x50 for the board pieces, and 20x20 miniature representation for each

How soon do you need them? If you can wait, I'll do it (and am even willing to do some themed ones, maybe dragons or something?) However, as I'm about to explain, slight computer problems going on at the moment...

So, my laptop is broken! Happened on Monday night. Something with the power cord just randomly dying... so, yeah, I still have my desktop, but ALL of my files, music, art, etc. are trapped in limbo on my laptop. Had to order a new cord from DELL, which will hopefully get here soon! Until then not much i can do. :(

In other, better news, I've got an internship for the summer! Paid, too (about an extra $2 over my movie theater job and another .40 above my DOS job). Working as a writer (loosley apply that term, hehe, as I think my main duty is writing obituaries) for the Alumni Magazine at Hamline. However, there was talk about working on student related stories and looking over page layouts. But haven't done any work yet, just the interview and them getting back to me saying they'd like to hire me. So, that balances the badness of my laptop.

Oh, and since my electric razor broke, and I didn't want to spend money on a new one, I'm currently growing a scruffy beard! Due to Easter, it'll probably be shaved off in a day or two. :p

Tomecko

Hullo boys (and the occassionally-occurring Vanya)! I'm baaaack. Kinda. I'm actually mooching off the neighbor's wireless network because mine refuses to work, but... eh. Back!

I'm loving the new place, but I'm still not completely unpacked (only got one day off the first week I was here, and I spent it scrubbing the previous house). The cat was a little freaked at first, but he's used to it now. Sadly, the Vegas trip my friend and I were planning for this month has been nixed due to all our moving costs. *sigh* Me wants vacatiooooon.

Fishy - All scorpions aside, it sounds like you had fun! ...Man, I didn't think they even *had* scorpions in France.

LZ - LOL, scruffy beard WOO! Are your electronics on a breaking spree? Hopefully the new power cord will fix the problem and save your art. :S Congrats on the new internship, though I think it would feel weird to write obituaries.

RD - Glad to hear your programming is going well! I call beta-tester. How you liking the new car?

LeoxStryker
05-04-2007, 06:51 PM
LZ - Any time really. Im generally to lazy to programme at home, so it gets done in dribs and brabs, usually on boss free days :p

T - Car is awesome! woo! Have yet to go chav bowling in it though (check recent msn blogging for the details on that :P)

Anyway, regarding chess again - everything is done with the exception of the following:
Check/Checkmating
Castling
En Passant Pawn Moves
As well as a minor graphic re-drawing issue, and obviously the fact that its using temporary icons for pieces (woo for lego brick rooks!).

Potentially, internet based multiplayer for any game might be a possibility in the near future, though laziness and hardcore programming are barriers to overcome on that front.

In other news, currently playing the absolutely kick-ass command and conquer 3: tiberium wars, and wearing that cool gdi t-shirt with pride :D

On a side note, I almost made my own chess set out of sculpey once. Goblins for the white (which I did finish) and Kobalds for the black (made the pawns and rooiks, but nothing else. I think I ran out of black clay...?)

man i'm watching too much.

Stargate SG1 & Stargate Atlantis are leading the way with full watch throughs (They run parallel so im watching them at the same time, seasons 8 & 1 respectively)

Then i've also started heroes and Sequest DSV.
Plus the latest episodes of 24, The Shield & Lost.

Then theres theres another 9 seasons of unwatched south park, 2 seasons of charmed, some films, and a few other bits and pieces.

Also, bought a new game for my wii, called Heatseeker. Its the gaming equivalent of a mindless action film with with lots of explosions and cool effects and probably no plot. Looks like a bloody good flying game though. It joins wii sports, wii play, call of duty 3, warioware, and the incredible zelda: twilight princess in the wii collections. (Not inclusing the downloaded ones: bomberman, super mario world [SNES], Sonic 1 [Mega Drive/Genesis], Mario Kart 64 [N64] & Zelda: Link's Awakening [SNES]

BSG Is awesome, and one of the best shows on television. the end.

+BSG Has a huge cast (arguable 'had', there have been many fatalities :P) of kick ass actors, who at the same time arent instantly recogniable faces, which IMO spoils the effect of some shows/films

+BSG may be sci-fi but its more Dark gritty drama like say 24 or the shield, with being sci-fi as its secondary genre. But rest assured. giant space battles are still bloody brilliant. As T may point out after episode 3x04 (Exodus pt. 2), if she ever watches it - its incredible.

+Screw phasers shields and photon torpedoes. It's all about bullets, hull and the odd nuke. It's an aircraft carrier in space, as the prodcers say, so apart from being in space and such, it's not really sci-fi

+For the male audience (and the female audience i guess, though im not qualifified to speak in that department) theres plenty of eye candy. :P

+The vast majority of plots/stories/character arcs are incredible. And BSG just gets better as it goes along. The story is very much character driven which makes it much more powerful. Especially when things, shall we say, 'happen' to them.

+BSG touches on many modern day big topics - Nukes, war genocide, suicide bombers etc - which makes the story even more realistic and mesmerising.

Can't be arsed to continue, byee! :p

fishyfins
24-04-2007, 09:46 PM
does it follow the same storylines, IE, remakes the old one? does it continue from where it left off, or is it just a whole new thing?

LeoxStryker
24-04-2007, 11:20 PM
It runs its own course, and pretty much only takes the core elements from the original - Getting their asses kicked by the cylons, going on the run, and all the characters etc. Apart from that it's all new, with modern storylines, and zero camp-ness.

Lord Zasz

Fishy - What if the whole human race were wiped out and only a hand full of survivers avoided complete destruction? What if those responsible were stronger, faster, and smarter than you... and immortal? And what if you may be one of them and not even know it??? There's my suppliment on RDs post.

(Though, I'm still pretty behind, but I can't really catch up as I'm maxed out on hard drive space... same with lost and all other non-legally aquired series i'm watching.) :(

Sorry I've been gone everyone, been really really hectic round here. (End of the year and such). Still working on my novel (revising the 63 pages I've written so far) have to write a shoprt story in Poe style, and write an analysis essay of the choices I made, translate a few itallian poems and write a lengthy essay on that, and study for my cumulative American Lit. test.

fishy - Yes, BSG is good stuff! Excellent characters and great plot twists.

RD - lol, yes, I can assure you there is plenty of BSG eye candy for the ladies too. :big smile:

LZ - New chapters! I must beta-read these. Good luck with your end-of-term madness.

I've been keeping busy too, though not to such an extreme. Next week I have a court date to get my last name changed, which is pretty exciting. For those of you who don't know, I have two last names (one legal, one preferred) and it's a hassle switching back and forth between them. This whole court thing will nix one of them. WOO. Been meaning to do it for years, but it means weeks of filling out paperwork... :P

Also been doing lots of overtime at work (6-day weeks BAH), and I managed to flood my bathroom the other day while trying to fix a leaky pipe! Heh-heh-heh... I guess there's a reason I'm not a plumber.

There is a reason why god invented plumbers. though god knows how the hell they got that name...

*fishy puts teachers hat on, sits you all down, points to blackboard, and clears throat*

The term plumber comes from the latin work for lead - "Plumbum", which is also where the formula for lead "pb" comes from. In roman times, most water supply piping was made of lead, which led to much madness and ill health in the population
consiquently, since then, everyone who is skilled with working on water piping and related things has been known a plumbumber (someone who works with lead), which was eventually shortened to plumber

thankyou, class dissmissed

T- Well... was thinking of doing a fan comic of Lilo and Stitch that is also somewhat based on my January trip. Basic plot is Lilo and Stitch win a hula contest and Nani promised to take them to DisneyWorld to celebrate. However, due to them being poor, well, it doesn't work out. Jumba decides to pull out an old invention and transport them there, but things go wrong, and the theme parks become real (ala KH style worlds). Additionally, the device is being sought after by Jumba's old rival at Galactic Defense Industries, who stole his research and created his own expiriment. Anyways, that's my kind of idea, which may change or not happen, but we'll see. I got a pretty cool opening 3 pages thumbnailed. If you catch me, I can show you the tenative cover I designed (Lilo and Stitch hula with my original experiment peeking from behind the stage).

But, you know, aside from that I also have to work on my Novel project designs (character sheets and such) and my poor forgotten dragons!

Well, add another one to the mix! Decided to do a 200 pic challenge (a lot may be sketches!) Not sure what the subject would be (ie Lord Zasz, one of the other specifically mentioned projects, a general mix) I did something like this a loooooooong time ago, 100 monsters! I think I was in second or third grade, and by the end the monsters just ended up being numbers with teeth... but yeah, still a good time.

Oh, and I survived my 12 hour death shift rather easily. :) Mostly due to Spider-Man 3 falling below expectations and me bringing with some food for supper. I learned my lesson previously that trying to go more than 7 hours on nothing but popcorn and icee's is dangerous. :(

I'll say awesome sketches now, even though I don't have time to look yet... but I will, and I'm sure they will be awesome!

LOL. Yeah, I'm fresh out of ideas for you.

Hmmm... maybe pick a country you dislike and explain why England is a million times better?

For example, I got these funny pictures (http://www.jibjab.com/view/148202#) in an email a while back as proof that England is better than America.

And while it seems that Tony Blair is unpopular, he's still better than this (http://www.jibjab.com/view/115796). Our leader can't even work a door!

Yessir! Posting now sir!

Needles, fainting, and markets? How so? It does indeed sound interesting.

And I hear you on the cosplay! I just picked up some fabric and patterns yesterday to try and put together my first cosplay (Tsumura Tokiko (http://www.busourenkin.com/img/gallery/c-tokiko03.jpg) from Busou Renkin), and I've been scouring the net to hunt down a good wig and so forth.

Speaking of which, fishy, you should sign up at http://www.cosplay.com/, you can post photos of your finished and unfinished costumes.

ok, yeah, needles and fainting. i have no fear of needles, or pain, and never have. ive never shied away from injections, and even watch the needles go into my skin. nor have i got any allergies, or had any reactions to anything in the past. i havent been ill really for about 7 years. i am 100% healthy.
anyway, i went to the doctors to get my innoculations for Africa (8 weeks till i go, yaay). i needed 2 jabs (one in each arm). the nurse did the right arm first. i watched the needle go in, and after it came out, i was like "oh yeah, bring on the nbext one". she moved around, and again did it to my left arm. i again watched it. just after she pulled it out, i started to feel a little dizzy, and i told her this. she asked if i wanted to lie down, and i replied "no, ill be fi.....". before finishing, i collapsed. i woke up a few minutes later on the floor in the recovery possition with the nurse sat down looking rather scared, the doctor, the receptionist and two random other patients looking at me testing me. i was quite freaked out by that. apparently, my blood pressure went through the floor, and i lost all colour. they said it wasnt a reaction to the neele, or the injection. it was quite warm in the surgery, but they said it was unlikely to have been that. they even said it could have been a palputation of the heart brought on by the injection....which doesnt sound good.

RD - Okay, now that I'm FINALLY done with all my evil school tests and papers and such, I shall resume daily postings. :)

Tomecko - Funny signs, however, Myth Busters disproved the train sucking sign. You will not get sucked under the train even while standing next to it! (However, you could get blown over... especially if you happen to be a baby in a stroller... went about 15 feet!)

Fishy - Yikes! I can't say I fear needles, but I don't particularily like them. That'd be the reason I don't give blood... and I figure I need it more. I really do hope it wasn't a reaction to the shots, as I'm assuming they gave you vaccines against the not-so-nice stuff down there that could kill you fairly quick. Hope you don't have Malaria! (But seriously, hope you're feeling better now and it was just a fluke or something)

So, yes, I live again! Had to take an evil 7:45 exam today (meaning, I had to leave at 6:45am to get there on time, groan) to make matters worse, my poor Sora fell over and got crushed last night! In the grand scheme of things, he ended up being a lot more important than working on my final project in... so I spent a couple hours trying to fixe him (he lost a leg and an arm!) But he's pretty much fixed now. And I got that final project done a good hour before the deadline, so covered there, hehe. Anyways, I'm gonna collapse in bed tonight and you guys will probably actually see me online sometime now!

Tomecko
15-05-2007, 02:53 AM
Whoa. Passing out, not cool. Hopefully you're alright, and it won't interfere with your trip to Africa (which sounds quite awesome).

I have only passed out once in my life myself, but I'm not sure if it counts. I distinctly remember waking up before I even hit the floor. :P

You aren't anemic, are you? 'Cuz that might be an explanation.

Might do a bit of programmy stuff soon.
A super-doopa version of the library program (which tracks and enables downloads of every other program i make) isnt far off. and then other proggies will appear. A graphically superior "Squares" game, "Hex" (the decimal <> Hexidecimal tool) which i think i never atually released :P. Graphically enhance tic-tac-toe, the chess beta test, maybe a beta of "Quickfire" (A fully customisable quick-search tool, which you can link into online search engines, torrent site search engines etc).

Might try to get the minesweeper game working, and i think i might be able to make a battleships game now. Theres a currently not-working 2D character-based game in the works. Think something like boulder dash, only lamer :p

T - Yes! I am all done now. Will be working a bit with one of my teachers over the summer on my novel, but that's for fun. Still got my 3 jobs, so, yeah not 100% "off" but no homework.

RD - that's right, I forgot about chess stuffs. Will have to get on those graphics soon.

Oh, expect an art uploadage to DA soon (and maybe I'll post some pics on the art page here or in PoosyJoo pics, or something) Bunch of sketches and at least 6 sculptures, maybe 8 if I finish the Heartless Shadow and my original character Cite (from a short story I wrote a while back, white fluffy lizard/dino/alien) before I post the pics. Still no new colored pics... other than the avatars, which you've all seen. Been in a show-offy mood lately and, well, there's less people who can make a cool sculpture than can make a cool pic.

Anywho, been seeing some new movies lately (including employees only showing of Shrek 3!) so, I'd recomend Disturbia, Meet the Roinsons, and Shrek 3; 3/4 stars for Spider-Man 3 due to them trying to cram too much in and a few plot holes and blowing up a few cool characters. But, still a really good movie!

*THREE* Jobs? though it was two. 'bout time for a hara-kiri methinks
And as for dpiderman 3. Yeah. The middle was crap. Spiderman is not meant to be a comedy. period. And it sucked that person-who-shall-go-nameless died. Although it would have made an odd fourth film.

Plenty of watchable films this summer, w00t. Definately gotta see the new potter moview (then read the new potter book!).

A Quiz game is currently being developed. And it will have user definable quizes, which will be placed on Dracomancer. So you guys can create your own and challenge the rest of us!

In Addtion, the Chess BETA is available:
http://www.dracomancer.co.uk/downloads/chess/index.html

It is fully featured, although there are a few more things needed to be completed:

1)Check/Checkmating - Currently the king can move anywhere, regardless of whether it puts him in check. And you can't checkmate the enemy king. I think it may actually be possible to kill him atm...

2) Castling and
3) En Passant
Special moves which require an extra method of working out when and how they can be used

4) Fixing a pair of minor graphical issues (selecting the piece to move brings up coloured borders on squares ytou can move to. switching to another window, or dragging the chess game so that border dissappear off the edge of the screen causes these to dissapear

Well i'm afraid the one man posting army must march on.

RSS is now set up for Dracomancer. The Appropriately named Dragon-Feed.
The Feed URL is: http://www.dracomancer.co.uk/feed.xml
Or if your web browsers or whatever auto detect, then you can add it from the dracomancer HOMEPAGE. Other pages do not have it built in at the moment. In other news, i have noticed that the elements section is a bit bare. So i'm probably going to get the synopsis for episode 3 and some lengthy charcter bios up in the near future.

Also, while im on a role, anyone have ideas for the site?

EDIT: Posting Rank images have been added to the foum and appear under your names in posts.
Rank 0 - 0 Posts
Rank 1 - 100 Posts
Rank 2 - 250 Posts
Rank 3 - 500 Posts
Rank 4 - 1000 Posts
Rank 5 - 2000 Posts

If Anyone wants to contribute some funky custom images, be my guest. The max number of ranks is infinite

EDIT EDIT:
The "Your Forum Name Here" image in the header of the skin (assuming you're using Trenz) is now gone

Sorry to break your streak RD, but I figure I'll post.

3 jobs, yes, but they are more towards part-time and not full. So, not dead, but not overflowing with freetime, either, hehe. I am overflowing with cash, though!

Actually, I loved the comedy parts in Spider-man! That was hillarious. I just wasn't satisfied how they kinda rushed through the story-lines of... well, all three villains. Two would have been enough, three was to many to succesfully pull-off, and, unecessary. I mean, they only had one in the last two and they turned out really well! Two would have been plenty.

Quiz sounds cool!

Suggestions.... I don't know. Those posting images, um... let's just say I liked the plain green blocks better. Forum games are always good, contests...??? Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Tomecko - No, im not anaemic. i am quite underweight though, so i suppose that could have contributed to it

LZ - and i thought i had a hard time with just one job and uni...wow, you must be some guy to keep that up.

RD - will try and test some of your stuff over the next week or so, in between exam revision

well, im still alive over here, yaay. on thursday, me and a friend got on our bikes and just set off into the wide blue yonder to see how far we were physically capable of biking in a day. we got as far as Bridlington (about 30 miles from Here on normal roads, and we took quite a big diversion both ways). in the end, we must have biked between 60 and 80 miles. and we didnt even ache the next day....although our bums realy hurt, lol

one more thing, if i started a Naruto RP in the RP forum, would you guys participate? i have a great idea for a story lined up, but if no one will do it then i might just write it up as a fanfic.

Tomecko
21-05-2007, 06:28 AM
*is downloading programs now* That Library one is a good idea, cataloguing all the latest versions.

RD - Can the rank icons be different? Or will they all be the same, like these ones. It would be kinda cool to have them start off little and grow into something. *resolves to post more often and light up her first little box*

Fishy - 60 mile bike ride? Awesooome. I think the most I've ever done in one day is 20-30. *applauds* And while I'm not much for RP-ing, I would be interested in reading a fanfic of yourn!

LZ - You mean you haven't quit any of the others yet, you crazy dude? Yeesh! The combined paychecks must be quite comforting, though. Do I foresee a Best Buy spending spree?

Things are well over here on the Oregon front. I just got done with my own spending spree, getting all the accessories for my first cosplay - wig, socks, shoes, and some cool 'scar' temporary tattoos. I even splurged on some cool amber-ish contacts, which should prove to be lots of fun! I want to wear them to work and see if anyone notices.
*twiddles thumbs and waits for everything to ship*

Also picked up some books (Dragonlance Chronicles, wheeee) and some sweet new speakers for my computer. Further spending shall wait for the next paycheck. There are some more manga & books I have my eyes on.

In stranger news, my parents are getting back together, which baffles me, but in a happy way? *eyetwirl* We shall see.

LeoxStryker
21-05-2007, 09:25 AM
T - Well i hope that works out for your parents.
The Post rank images are single images for each rank, NOT a comination of pips. So they could start of small and grow indeed. What'cha thinking?
And the Library app may eventually turn into a centralised hub tracking what you have installed and allowing to to add new games/programs. But that will be later on once i've developed my own installer engine (i could use one of the default ones, but they're lame :p)

As for RD's Finances. Two more F words come to mind. no, not the F word :p. Fatality & Flawless Victory (To bill type stuff)

Got £400 left to pay off on my car (then all £5000 of it is mine, haha!), then about £390 or so to pay for a holiday to greece this summer, then its getting rid of the student loan time. All £4000 or so of it. Currently its coming out of my bank at £5 a week. Which is good because its not affecting other payments, but it'll take forever like that lol. Gonna save up and whack of cheques for £500 or so. Americans - Just double these numbers and drop jaw in shock :p

Haha! Like the icons, though I never use them, they are much better than the old ones!

RD- Have no idea what "Gonna save up and whack of cheques for £500 or so." means... yeah. Glad to hear the car's almost paid off! Debt is bad.

Fishy - you're insane. Seriously. But, I guess you must be in good health to ride about 80 miles a day, that or you're secretly Lance Armstrong. (As for me, never even learned to ride a bike)

T - Well that's good news, hope it all works out! And spending sprees are always nice. And yep, still have all three, I like to multi-task.

RD - My first thought was of a sapling growing into a tree, but since this is the Dracomancer Forums, maybe an egg that grows into a dragon or something.

*plays with new icons* WRENCH.

LeoxStryker
23-05-2007, 09:44 AM
T - love the egg idea. Although i think it may be hard to stretch at theme across loads of levels

LZ - Don't americans have chequebooks? If not then well, just take it as sending them a kind of 'permission slip' to take £500 out of your account. Thats probably the easiest i can think of putting it :p

In other news - either the post icons have messed up or its just the work compy (with IE6) but the post icons have lost their transparency (and so are all squares/rectangles). How're they displaying for you guys?

fishyfins
23-05-2007, 11:34 AM

T - well thats good news....i think. i hope it all goes well for you/them

LZ - hehe, im not Lance Armstrong....im so much more than he will ever be

Edit: In other news....the fishy just scored a free ticket to go see The Who play live at KC stadium here in hull on Saturday, BOOYAH!!! (i dont actually listen to any of their songs, but oh well)

Q: What do you get if you leave a dragon unattended at work with nothing to do most of the day.

A: http://www.dracomancer.co.uk/downloads/blockbuster

BlockBuster: Breakout clone (Beta 1)
Features: USer Customisable levels (block positioning etc), Cool Skins. Three types of blocks (requiring 1-3 hits, to destroy)

Known Bugs:
If your bat is in a bottom corner, and the ball lands directly on the corner, it effectively sticks to that wall. (I'm 95% sure whats causing this, will be fixed for Beta 2)

Sometimes the ball may behave erratically when hitting blocks (usually large clusters of them) symptoms including passing though a block it just destroyed, or moving through one block to destroy some behind it

Bug reporting for any other issue you may find would greatly be appreciated.

Planned Featues:
+ Adding Skin Selection Options
+ Tracking of High Scores (Local & Online)
+ Graphical Level Editor (so no more need to manually edit xml files then test-run the game)
+ Additional Level options including setting ball speed an option to make the ball speed up on each bat hit.
+Possible ability to select "Campaigns" compoing of different levels

If anyone wants to know how to create/edit levels, feel free to ask, or look at all the included .xml files, (the levels.xml master file, and the individual levels files, leve1.xml etc) and you should be able to figure it out

Tomecko
25-05-2007, 09:10 PM
lol, yeah, I saw that and even went in to erase it before I decided to leave it in your capable hands.

Well, I switched to Mozilla Firefox today, and I can't figure out why I never did before. It let me import all my bookmarks from IE7, and even has a small, unobtrusive bar that I can put my webcomic links on. Could save me a few minutes checking them each night, as I'm up to around 32 comics now. XD Also, the icon transparency works now.

LeoxStryker

Fishy- Sweet! The Who are a great band! Sounds like fun.

RD- Ahhh. More funny brittish spelling. We call them checks over here.

Not much into webcomics, prefer to make 'em rather than read 'em. (Speaking of which, starting up on my old dragons and maybe another one)

Without giving anything away, I really recomend seeing Pirates 3! I really liked it, especially the ending. As for negative, I think they rushed through the beginning and killed a couple characters off a bit too quickly, as well as plot hole crab lady and Jack...seeing...things... (save for later). My sis didn't like how Elizabeth and Will ended, but I thought it was a pretty good. So all in all, good movie (for those who have been on the ride, a couple of really great moments involving the log flume portion and the red pirate!) and great battle scenes! And the monkey deserves an academy award.

Tomecko
26-05-2007, 05:01 AM
LOL, well, I just got back from seeing Shrek the Third with the parents, and I must admit I wasn't as disappointed as I thought I'd be. There were a few bits in the beginning that were too too over the top, but they carried thru pretty good in the end.

Still won't be seeing the new Pirates until Tuesday, though.

Fishy - That's right, I forgot to comment on your concert-going! The Who is brilliant stuff.

I got my cool contacts today, I never expected they would be such a b*tch to put in! Seriously took me, like, 45 minutes and a whooole lot of swearing. XD Turns out my dad wants to give me my great-grandma's sewing machine, too, so now I won't have to borrow anyone's. w00t!

26-05-2007, 09:10 AM
ok, call me a noob if you want....but what teh poop is an RSS feed?

as for PotC3, im not a massive fan of the series (not to the extent of queueing up first in line on first day of showing sort of stuff), but i do admit that they are still damn good films. loved the first two. i might actually go and see it at some point.. in fact, perhaps today.....

LeoxStryker
26-05-2007, 09:53 AM
LZ - Funny british spelluing? It's not our fault you evil seperatists couldnt spell so you just changed the spellings to make them easier :p And almost completely outlawed the letter 'u'
Colour > Color etc. And the refernce to the ride went over my head (i have been on it)

Fish - The temptation is there, but i'll be nice. RSS feeds basically provide you with news headlines for site instead of having to go to them. So you might subscribe to one for a webcomic you like, and instead of having to continously check for the ext comic to come out, you just subscribe to the feed. when they releas one, the rss will pick it up (it refreshes every now and then usually 15 mins) and all you'll have to do is look at this feed entry, which includes links etc. Most sites have RSS now (usually denoted my a orange rectangle with 'RSS' in it or a sort of transmission signal. If you're using IE7, its the 4th icon from the left. All (decent) browsers should auto detect any feeds on a site as soon as you go to them. Any other questions?

!@#$%^ Just about finished this post and my computer died! (the new plug I got for my laptop isn't as snug a fit as the old one, and my batteries are useless now, so every now and then it'll just turn off if the plug comes loose. VERY irritating) Anyways, offf to retype everything...

RD- us? bad spelling? So we get rid of a couple extra u's and e's, it simplifies things. Besides, I've got one word for you, "Chaucer." Now that's some bad spelling!

As for references to the ride in the movie, I used to live in california and have been on the original ride many times (as well as the re-vamped version in florida) so I probably notice them easier. Anyways, first is when they go over "world's end" That's a nod to the flume/waterfall you go down in the ride, and in fact, the sounds that play during that segment are from the ride! The other reference is Jack's father, who is dressed the same as the pirate who attacks Port Royale in the ride. Oh, and, as usual, the dog carrying the keys is from the ride, too. Glad he made it off cannibal island! w00t for seaturtles!

T- hope the contacts at least looked cool after 45 minutes to put in!

Fishy - don't worry, I didn't know what an RSS feed was, but I didn't really care, either.

Just got back from Pirates 3, overall not as bad as I was expecting! Quite a surprise. Fun battle scenes and plenty o' funny bits.

Man this last week just gets worse and worse.

Mid week last week my phone inexplicably broke. Since then it has inexplicably revived itself. Then the computer broke, revived, then permanently broke. But now it seems like the graphics card must have died, since removing it and using on board graphics has fixed the problem. Then battlestar galactica was confirmed as only having one more season. Now today there was incredible traffice delays all over east london due to an overturned lorry spilling tomato puree all over 2 motorways. You just couldnt make that up.

Wow, bad news all around!

and I was gonna say luf! and I could gues the borough, as new york has boroughs, unless you guys pronounce it different.

Ummm, website updates. Let's see, maybe synopsis with linkable keywords? (ie, you can click on the name Jake Stryker and it shoots to his bio, but could also work for key locations, items, or powers.) ANy other suggestions, like start a weekly web-comic, would be unnaplicable I imagine.

Question: Saving up for a computer (which beat out a PS3, mostly because there's nothing out for it yet that I have to play) but debating on whether or not to get a mac this time. Downside would be playing games, I imagine, unless they fixed the compatibility problem. Upside would be drawing programs, as I hear that most creative departments only use macs. Any thoughts from you guys on the matter?

Apple is *BAD!*
You won't get anything more coherent from me on the matter. IMO Apple products rate higher than bullets on the things to doge scale :p

Coincdently, im gonna build my own supercomputer soon
General spec (Once i max it out) will be
5Ghz processor
8GB Ram
2x 512MB Graphics Cards

Initially it will only have the one card and 2GB ram. both both of those are double my current anyway :D. And it's been dubbed the "Death Star" :p

Will definately link all important things together, but will wait until the lot is up (so i know what and where to link to). Not really able to do a webcomic, certainly not weekly. Maybe some comical doodles on the homepage

T - The Bio sketches you gave me fit in nicely. As long as the width is no more than 400 tops (350 or so is about ideal) then it's all good. Theres no need to worry about the height of them. will produce a big post on each characters vitals so you have a vague idea what to draw for the people you dont know yet :) :fire:

LZ - Yeah, I'm a PC fan myself. It might be hard switching to a different OS, I'd see if you can find a friend/relative with a Mac and give it a test drive first.

RD - Yeah, that linking idea sounds really good. I was looking at the bio pages, and you could also add what volume each character first appears in.
For the front page, you could always link to a funny site/article/flash vid, like you often do in your blog. Could be another excuse to link that 'End of the World' vid.

Well if anyone else wants a peek at T's sketches the ones for Jake & Chris' bios are up (as well as a partial Jake bio)

Tomecko's Elements sketches for the characters: Damien, Slade, Sonya & Kira are now uploaded into their respective bios.

In other news if any of my proggies dont work, it probably is because you do not have microsofts .Net Framework 3.

Finally, for those who like a little online game, i recommend www.travian.com. build tyou village up, conquer territory and wage wars. Kinda like Dark Throne on steroids. With pretty pictures!

*smiticates the RD posting spree*

Ugh, my internet randomly kicked the bucket for a day. My apologies to RD and Fishy, who I happened to be IM-ing at the time. :P

RD - New descriptions, thankies! I shall continue to draw.

*randomly reappears* Phew, made it before I had to read more than one page of posts!

Yeah, been busy what with making a new card game. (I do love my random summer projects!) Up to 60 cards, almost ready to do some beta testing. Ink supply not doing as well, however, for obvious reasons.

Fishy - awesome!

Others - k, shall stick to the uber-pc idea and abort the mac. I was amazed to see a 500 mb hard drive the other day on a pc in my price range! Wow, things have really grown since 2004.
