Episode 2 - Dark Conspiracy



Plot Summary

The second part starts with Chris & Erin mourning the loss of Jake in the Temple of Elements. Sparky teleports himself and Gauss to the temple now that they know about it and a battle ensues. Sparky and Gauss almost win but then a huge flaming phoenix flies into the temple and rains fire down upon them. Sparky teleports himself and Gauss away just in time. The Phoenix lands in a ball of fire, and emerging from the flames is Jake.

Jake explains that he didnt die, and that somehow, his powers advanced in his desperate attempt to get out alive. That was the pillar of red light that Chris and Erin saw. Jake however was injured in the shockwave of the blat blast and was unable to make it back until now.

Since they didnt stand a chance last time, they head back to civilisation to collect some equipment to help them. Jake is able to get a large ammount of money and is able to get some swordsmiths to create some cool weapons from titanium. This means that the weapons are significantly lighter than steel ones, which means he can carry larger ones, as well as using them to a devestating effect. Also, it measns that Gauss cannot control them and try to use them against him, as was the case last time.

But it isn't that easy. The bad guy has exposed them to the real world. Some view them as facinating, believing they are heroes, some think they are demons or villans. But the biggest problem of all - All the armies of the major countries of the world want them captured and interogated to find out what threat they pose to the world, and if they can be used to their advantage.

After wandering around the streets meeting fearful gazes, they finally discover whats going on. Then the Special forces unit arrives. Much to Chris dislike, Jake takes commandeers an expensive using car which they use to try and escape the special forces. They get onto the motorway, and the special forces, after several warnings, open fire on the car. Chris gets up through the sunroof and tries to use his powers to slow down the pursuers but it doesnt work well. Jake makes him switch places and tells him to keep driving to the coast. Jake gets up throught the sunroof and manages to set two of the three special forces vehicles alight, though it doesn't stop them. The special forces are now a little angry shall we say, and fire an RPG (That's a rocket propelled grenade if ya didnt know) at the car. Jake is knocked onto the roof and hangs on for dear life, and the back of the car is completely on fire. The reach a huge cliff at the coast where they pull over, now trapped. The special forces deploy and threaten to shoot them. Jake tells them they have to jump. They insist its crazy, like anybody else would. Eventually Jake convinces them to use therir powers to decend the cliffs: Erin rises a pillar of water up, gets on and goes down, Chris uses his powers to slow his fall. After seeing them try to escape the special forces open fire. Jake holds up his hand and manages to blow up most of the bullets before they reach him but end up getting a pair of fleshwounds in his arm and leg. He jumps and they escape for now.

After making it back to the Temple of Elements and researching their heritage more, they discover that each of the old elementals had a temple contructed in remote parts of the world. At these temples are sacred medallions, which boost the powers of the appropriate elemental. However, the book says that they are guarded by sentinels that cannot be killed, and that never sleep. They each set out to their own temples. Jake heads for the Temple of Fire, deep in the amazon rainforest, Chris heads for the Air Temple on the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa, While Erin heads for the temple of Water in the arctic circle.

Jake arrives and finds the medallion guarded by a large ghostlike dragon. After attacking him, jake is able to defeat the dragon, and claim the medallion as his own. Much to his suprise the dragon charges at him and flies into his chest, where it remains.

Chris makes it to kilimanjaro where he is ambushed by an ancient xenophobic african tribe. Eventually, he convinces them he is the heir to the power or air, and the tribe are able to communicate on a primative level with him to expalin that they are guardians of the temple. He enters and is confronted by a Gryphon. Same happens as with jake.

Erin arrives at the Water temple. Erin also gains her freezing powers and can create solid objects out of ice, specifically a pair of sai, which Jake mentors her in the use of later.

They all meet back at the Temple of Elements.

In the meantime, Slade has found a way to copy the specific genetic code found in elementals, and infuse his followers (disciples as they are called) with their powers. He Has created a dark version of jake from some hair he ripped of jake in the first book. Dark Jake is the complete opposite of the real one, his evil mirror self. What he would become if he fell to the (sorry for the cliche :P) dark side. Dark Jake is unleashed upon the city to cause chaos with Sparky & Gauss after Slade takes over the stadium where the superbowl final takes place. Since millions of people are watching, as well as all the major news channels, he reveals his intentions to rule the world. Jake, Erin & Chris head for the stadium, but Slade had expected this. He tells them that he's planted three bombs. Cameras on board three vehicles appear the board. as well as the time reamining. One set to destroy the engines on a 747, one set to destroy the breaks of a high speed treain heading for the center of town, with a pressure sensor bomb attached to the from of the train to detonate on impact, one set to blow a hole in the hull of an ocean liner. Slade does let them know roughly where they are and they set off. While they are away, Dark Jake, Sparky & Gauss destroy a huge ammount of the city and thousands of innocent people.

Jake struggles in his phoenix form to slow the descent of the plane, using both his Pyro and kinetic powers, Chris struggles to slow the train, and Erin is unable to stop the ship sinking. She manages to slow the ship down a little enough to get most people off and away to safety but a lot of people are still trapped on the ship when it goes under. She is physically drained from using her powers and makes her way back to the stadium. Jake manages to crash land the plane just offshore a beach, and puts out all the fires before making it back, almost physically drained himself. Chris manages to create a small tornado to follow the train and slow it down to a stop, then makes his way back to the stadium, also drained.

With their strength drained they cant put up much of a fight. Slade send a mysterious woman with a tatoo on her face out to combat the trio. Slade uses his powers - as a phychic - to get inside the minds of the trio. Chris isn't tempted by the evil, but Jake and Erin are. Erin is overcome by her desire for revenge and runs off to chalenge Slade on her own, leaving Jake & Chris to confront this woman.

Sparky teleports in with gauss and kidnaps Erin and teleports away with Slade. Gauss then starts to exclusively attack Jake for scarring him in the first book. Although he cant affect Jakes weaponry, The woman uses socerry to turn it to dust. Jake focuses his strength and creates a pair of Dragon's Teeth (remember those?) The woman uses her power of sorcery to imobolise and choke Chris. Gauss creates a primitive sowrd form metal at the stadium, the woman conjures a magical blade and another cool swordfight ensues. Gauss uses his powers to launch a piece of metal at Jake from behind which pierces his left lung. He grabs Chris, goes into phoenix form and they escape. Chris gets Jake to a hospital where they perform surgery on him. He makes it through ok, and is recovering in a hospital bed. They dont know how they can stop the seemingly invincible foes they have arrayed against them.
